  • What Is A
    Student Brand Manager?

Chipotle Student Brand Managers create fun and innovative ways to introduce their fellow students to Chipotle and our mission of changing the way people think about and eat fast food. Read on to find out more about our program and the kinds of students we are looking for.

What does a Student Brand Manager do?

Chipotle Student Brand Managers are responsible for generating excitement, awareness, and buzz about Chipotle Mexican Grill on campus. They promote Chipotle to fellow students on campus by representing the brand, seeking out unique opportunities that will connect fellow students with Chipotle, and utilize social media to spread the word. With the guidance of the local Chipotle marketing representative via e-mail, phone calls and periodic in-person meetings, Student Brand Managers not only learn about grassroots marketing, but execute it in real-world situations. The opportunity isn’t just academic, it’s real. Students must commit to two full academic semesters. High School & College candidates must be able to complete the established Chipotle SBM program each semster. Projects, Tactics and tasks vary.

What kinds of students are we looking for?
    • Must love Chipotle Mexican Grill, have a passion for changing food culture, and have strong social ties both on campus and within social media. Must be a full-time student at least 16 years of age. The ideal candidate will be a Sophomore or Junior with connections across campus (athletic, social, academic scenes).
    • Must be energetic, outgoing, creative and organized with outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Must work very well independently with limited supervision. Marketing experience or previous experience working as a brand manager is a plus.
    • Must have access to a computer with high-speed internet and access to a smart phone with camera is preferred.

  • About Chipotle

At Chipotle, we aim to do just a few things, but do them exceptionally well. When Chipotle first opened its doors in 1993, the goal was simple: to serve high quality, delicious food quickly with an experience that not only exceeded, but redefined the fast food experience.

To that end, we focus on sourcing the best possible ingredients, serving the tastiest food, and growing the most capable team we can.

    Good food IS good business.

    The Chipotle Story

In 1990, while working at Stars restaurant in San Francisco, Steve Ells (Chipotle founder, chairman and co-CEO) was inspired by the tacquerias in that city’s Mission District and began developing the idea for Chipotle Mexican Grill.

In 1993, Ells returned home to Colorado and opened the first Chipotle restaurant near the University of Denver campus. He started Chipotle with the idea that food served fast did not have to be a typical fast food experience. Today, Chipotle continues to offer a focused menu made from fresh, high-quality raw ingredients, prepared using classic cooking methods and served in a distinctive atmosphere. Since then Chipotle has expanded nationwide and now has more than 1,100 restaurants in more than 38 cities across the country, internationally in Toronto, London, with Paris opening soon. Check out this video for a behind the scenes look at our kitchens and Steve's culinary vision.

    Meet Steve

Steve Ells may be the founder of Chipotle, but he's not your typical CEO. Steve is a chef first, you will almost never see him in a suit, and he can still mash a mean batch of guacamole when he wants to. Check out this video to learn more about Steve and his journey.

    Cultivating a Burritoful World

Chipotle is a pioneer in changing the way people think about and eat fast food. Armed with our philosophy of Food With Integrity, we take pride in sourcing as many of our high-quality ingredients as we can from local and family farmers who are committed to sustainably raising antibiotic- and hormone-free meats and organic vegetables. It is an active process of working back along the food chain.

It is a deeper level of thinking, consideration, and comprehension than just the word "fresh." It means going beyond distributors to discover how our vegetables are grown, and being cognizant of how our pigs, cows and chickens are raised. It is a philosophy solidly based on a foundation of not exploiting animals, the environment, or people.
